A forum for extraordinary artists

HORA was awarded the OWL Kulturförderpreis [cultural sponsorship prize of the Ostwestfalen-Lippe region], for exemplary use of regional culture, on 22 November 2012. The prize giving took place in the course of the 5th OWL cultural forum at the IHK Ostwestfalen [CIC East Westphalia] in Bielefeld.

In the category "Medium sized enterprise" HORA received this honour, primarily for the series of concerts "Industry meets culture" that they initiated. Both concerts from this series gave extraordinary artists the space to show their talents against an unusual backdrop. The series - it was said at the prize giving - significantly enlivens the cultural life of the city. However, HORA was not only financially committed, but also primarily to the organisation. The jury was impressed with how HORA employees helped to co-create and organise the concerts.
When HORA made the dispatch hall available as a venue in 2010, many employees were on hand to help with building the stage and setting out the chairs. Some helped in the cloakroom and others worked as caterers. And at the second concert in March 2012, in the assembly hall of the Schloß Holter Gymnasium school building, the HORA employees once again provided their services. Through the cultural sponsorship prize, in particular the efforts of the HORA staff are recognised. It brings the company the fourth award in four years.
